SOURCES & VERIFICATION

How WatchFixFinder Builds Its Directory

Our listings are built from information published by watch and clock repair shops themselves. This page explains our sources, verification standards, data rules, and correction process.

OUR SOURCE STANDARD

Repair shops' own websites are the primary source

WatchFixFinder uses individual repair shops' own websites as the source for directory records. We review published business information, service descriptions, brand lists, mail-in policies, and service menus.

Third-party business directories, manufacturer locators, and trade association listings may help identify potential businesses for research. They do not establish the facts displayed in a WatchFixFinder listing.

Every published record must be supported by the repairer's own published information. If a fact cannot be verified from that source, it is not presented as established.

VERIFICATION RULES

What we verify before publishing

Different listing fields have different evidence requirements. A shop is not assigned services, brands, or policies based on assumptions.

Business identity and location

The shop name and city are recorded from the shop's published business information.

Watch and clock services

Watch and clock classifications are based on explicit service information. Photographs and customer reviews are not used to infer repair capabilities.

Brands serviced

Brand names are recorded as published by the shop. We do not add brands because they are visible in photographs or mentioned by unrelated sources.

Mail-in policies

Mail-in acceptance is recorded as yes, no, or unstated. Only records explicitly stating yes qualify for the mail-in repair directory.

Published service menus

Service items and prices are recorded from the shop's published menu. Services without a published price remain unpriced.

Contact information

Phone numbers and website details are included only when supported by the shop's published information.

DATA INTEGRITY

How information is represented

Services are not inferred

A shop advertising watch repair is not automatically classified as a clock repairer. Each trade flag must be supported by the shop's own published information.

Brand lists remain verbatim

Published brand information is recorded as the shop presents it. We do not imply manufacturer authorization or add brands based on assumptions about the repairer's capabilities.

Unstated means unstated

When a shop does not publish whether it accepts mail-in work, the record is marked unstated. The absence of a policy statement is not treated as acceptance or refusal.

Unpublished prices are not estimated

We do not create substitute prices for services that a shop describes without publishing a price. A quote-based service remains quote-based in the directory.

Sources and checked dates

Every published shop record includes a source URL and a checked date. These fields identify where the information came from and when the published material was reviewed.

UPDATE POLICY

How listings are maintained

Business information and repair policies can change. A checked date identifies when the underlying published information was reviewed; it is not a guarantee that the information remains unchanged afterward.

Listings may be reviewed when updated source information is found, a shop submits a correction, or a visitor reports a possible error.

Corrections are checked against the repairer's own published information before the directory is changed. A submitted correction is not automatically published.

We do not promise a fixed review interval for every listing. Visitors should confirm important details directly with the repairer before arranging work.

REPORT AN ISSUE

Suggest a correction

If you find inaccurate or outdated information, send us the listing URL and a link to the repairer's own published information supporting the correction.
